What are trusted lists under eIDAS Regulation (EU) No 910/2014?
Trusted lists are essential elements in building trust among electronic market operators by allowing users to determine the qualified status and the status history of trust service providers and their services.
Which regulations shall each Member State comply with accordingly to eIDAS Regulation on this matter?
According to eIDAS Regulation (REGULATION (EU) No 910/2014 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 23 July 2014) on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market, each Member State shall establish, maintain and publish trusted lists, including information related to the qualified trust service providers for which it is responsible, together with information related to the qualified trust services provided by them.
Which is the entity responsible for establishing, maintaining and publishing trusted lists in European Union?
The European Commission, through the CEF Digital program, provides the national trusted lists and the List of Trusted Lists.
Only trust services providers established in one specific country (e.g. Portugal) can provide trust services in that territory?
No, there shall be no restriction on the provision of trust services in the territory of a Member State by a trust service provider established in another Member State. Products and trust services that comply with eiDAS Regulation shall be permitted to circulate freely in the internal market.
Only qualified trust service providers may use the EU trust mark?
Yes, only qualified trust service providers may use the EU trust mark to indicate the qualified trust services they provide.
Is LOQR a trust service provider?
No, nor is that required. LOQR is an ISO 27001 certified solution provider that, where needed (e.g.: digital certificate issuance, timestamping, among others), works with the most adequate qualified trust service provider for each specific scenario. Each qualified trust service provider is part of the European Trusted List published as mentioned above.
